Is Hedi Slimane Leaving Saint Laurent

Could there be another high profile fashion departure?

In the ever-changing high fashion landscape, the latest word is that Hedi Slimane may be leaving his post at Saint Laurent. While nothing has been confirmed, sources say that the designer has not yet been able to reach an agreement on the renewal of his contract with parent company Kering. To add fuel to the fire, Kering has apparently already chosen a likely successor — Anthony Vaccarello. Vaccarello was handpicked by Donatella Versace to spearhead the Versus brand, and was named its creative director last September.

Slimane began his role at then-Yves Saint Laurent in 2012, after a fashion hiatus that saw him focus on his art and photography career. His first move was to change YSL to Saint Laurent, and ushered in rock ‘n’ roll influences. His next show for the storied brand is slated to be January 24 for its 2016 fall/winter menswear collection.

If the news is true, this would be another blow for French fashion which just saw Raf Simons, Albers Elbaz and Alexander Wang part ways with their respective creative director posts last year.
